Inmate Property and Money
- Personal Property
For reasons of security and limited space,The Jail will not accept any personal property belonging to an inmate brought in by friends or family. The jail will provide needed articles if the inmate is without funds. Otherwise, an inmate can purchase authorized items from the commissary.
- Inmate Clothing for Court
Local inmates who must attend circuit court trials may have clothing brought to the jail by family members. Due to storage limitations extra clothing for an inmate court appearance is restricted to Circuit Court cases only.
To receive clothing for a Circuit Court appearance the inmate must first make the request to the Chief of Inmate Services on request forms provided to the inmate. Once approved, the inmate’s family or attorney may arrange to bring in the clothing. To arrange for delivery of clothing once approved, the attorney or family member may call (804)- 333-6419 ext 6022.
- What is an Inmate funds account?
Any currency an inmate brings into the jail will be credited to his inmate account to pay debts and purchase commissary items. Any remaining funds an inmate has when released or transferred will be;
- Mailed to the inmate or receiving institution. or;
- Inmate may pick up a check in person during normal business hours.
- How do I place Funds into an Inmate Account?
There are three ways to place funds into an inmate's account.
*Please note that friends and family members are prohibited from funding more than one inmate account. The accounts of those inmates are subject to freezing.1. In Person
- Cash or credit card may be used to deposit funds into an inmate's account using the ATM machine located in the jail lobby during daytime hours.
2. On the Internet
- Go to "jailatm.com"
- Click on "Sign In" at the top right corner.
- Fill out all information and create a password.
- Check your email, you should recieve a message with an activation link.
- Sign into your account to make a transaction.
- Selecting "Contact" on the JailATM page will provide more instructions and help.
3. By Mail
- Only currency in the form of money orders, cashier's checks, or certified check will be accepted by mail and deposited into an inmate fund account. Make the check or money order payable to the inmate.Please do not send currency(cash). All cash received in the mail will be returned to the sender at the sender's expense. - Online Commissary Ordering
- Go to jailcanteen.com to place an order or you may click the button below. **
- Once there, scroll down the list of Virginia Facilities and click on the Northern Neck Regional Jail.
- New users are prompted to create an account.
- On the left of the screen, you will enter the residents name and or Id number.
- Be sure you confirm the name and Id number before you submit your order.
- There is a non-refundable $4.95 fee for on-line ordering processing fee.
- All terms can be found on jailcanteen.com website.
