Position: Certified Substance Abuse Couselor
The Northern Neck Regional Jail is seeking candidates for a full time Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to provide counseling to incarcerated individuals to assist in understanding and coping with substance dependence. Duties include performing assessments of inmate needs; developing treatment plans; conducting group counseling sessions and/or substance abuse education classes; and performing individual counseling as needed.
Qualifications, Education and Experience: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with CSAC, or National Certification or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in substance abuse, psychology, sociology, social work, rehabilitation, criminal justice or closely related areas.
Required-Certified Substance Abuse Certification or national certification.

Position: Recovery Court Probation Officer
The Northern Regional Jail is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Recovery Court Probation Officer to supervise participants placed in the Recovery Court program by the Northern Neck and Essex Adult Recovery Court Program. Sample of duties include submitting reports to the Court, testifying in Court, drug testing, residential visits, attending and participating in Drug Court Team meetings, and collaborating with the Drug Court Coordinator.
This position establishes and monitors community service work for program participants and ensures that all special conditions of the Court are fulfilled. This position requires regular attendance at court proceedings, maintenance of accurate automated drug court statistics and case files, and performs substance use assessments and makes appropriate referrals. Night and weekend hours sometimes required.
Preferred Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related work experience including functional or operational administrative experience in a criminal justice, jail or corrections setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position: Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)
The Northern Neck Regional Jail is seeking candidates for a full time Qualified Mental Health Professional to provide case management and counseling to incarcerated individuals. Duties include performing assessments of Inmate needs; individual counseling, case management of chronic, acute, and crisis stages of mentally ill individuals, provide sound clinical documentation, and attend regular staffing meetings. Qualifications, Education and Experience: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in human services, psychology, sociology, or closely related field. Clinical experience preferred. Registration with Virginia Board of Counseling as a QMHP-A, preferred.
